I spent many nights in my 20s out and about in New York City. Those nights often turned into early morning, post-club hangouts. They all, and there were many, blend together. One random memory I have is at my friend’s apartment on 26th St, a regular after party locale. Everyone had left and my guys who lived there had gone to sleep. I was in the living room with one of my closest female friends. I challenge the presumption in When Harry Met Sally that men and women cannot have strictly platonic relationships. Anyway, my friend and I ended up playing a song over and over and belting it out, the way intoxicated 20-somethings would. Nothing crazy or unique happened, but I always remembered it. In the last few years I found out that TWO of my closest homegirls have that exact same memory with me. I only recall it happening once, and at this point I’m so confused that I don’t even know which one of them I was with, but can sort of see it with both.
What does this have to do with NBA Top Shot?
Essentially, zero, but the song in question was Patience, by Guns N’ Roses. Also, storytelling makes for engaging content. See, you’re still reading.
When I got to the age where occasionally acting like an adult became a requirement, I hired a financial advisor. I was told to not look at my portfolio often. We are in this for the long-haul and the valleys and peaks along the way don’t matter if we just focus on the north star. Checking daily can drive someone insane, especially during those dips. I, therefore, do not look at Fidelity regularly.
Which brings us to Top Shot. Now if you are a flipper or a day trader type, this advice may not work for you. I don’t know your game. Those of you that are invested similarly to me, where the one word to describe your investment ethos is HODL, well then stop checking your valuation tool of choice every 5 minutes. I know how exciting it was when that number was peaking with every peek, but that was not reality. A market is forming, and if you’re disciplined in your investment thesis this will work out for you.
As Axl smoothly sang…
Just a little patience.
Don’t Forget About The ‘Other’ Badge
Contributor: Follow @krhft on Twitter for more NBA Top Shot insights and content from its creator, Dez.
With the market rebound and the confirmation of Rookie badges by the end of the month, the 3Star and 2Star rookie market has been booming. But just as important and maybe more forgotten is these 1st moment badges. This goes to a player's 1st minted moment on TS, not driven by date of the moment. For any star drafted before the 19/20 season, this will effectively be looked at as their rookie moment, unless they have a Run It Back from their rookie year! This is a value analysis of the best 30 players under the age of 30 and their 1st moments.

While I have used up my current liquidity on horses and some digital art, I wish I could be a buyer given these coming in the next 12 months.
I’ve seen some people snap back (see what I did there) at Jack on Twitter for this post, stating that he has not purchased any moments in the past couple of weeks, so how can he be “a buyer”. I’m in the same exact boat as Jack. I invested X amount, built a portfolio I am very happy with, diversified a bit, and don’t have cash to invest right now. I, too, still strongly believe this is a buyer’s market right now. All of the above can be simultaneously true.

Kevin, of NBA Top Shottaz:
“Paul Pierce Run it Back Series 1” Paul Pierce is an NBA legend and the headliner for the Hall of Fame induction in September. You can get him for <4k as of right now, cheaper than similar caliber players like Chris Bosh, Paul George, and Steve Nash. The only downside is that it’s a Brooklyn Nets moment instead of Boston, BUT for presumably the only (or one of the only) Pierce moments we think it holds great long term value, especially with the HOF induction in September.
Justin, of NBA Top Shottaz:
The Jaren Jackson Jr Series 1 Moments are some of the most slept on and forgotten Moments in Top Shot. Jackson has been sidelined the entire season due to a torn meniscus that he sustained in the bubble last year, but he is expected to return to the court soon. Before his injury, he looked like one of the most promising young big men in the league as he knocked down almost 40% of his threes while also averaging 1.6 blocks per game and protecting the paint on defense. He is rumored to have grown to a legit 7 feet during his injury absence, so this is definitely a player to snatch up before he returns to action as the Grizzlies make their playoff push.
